Just thought I would let you know there is a 'wellington' exhibition on at Alnwick castle in Northumberland on the 26th and 27th, just thought I would tell you as you'll be in York anyway and its just up the road!!! I was reading S.Waterloo at work on my lunch the other day and a elderly lady I work with mentioned that I should read the Arthur books, she's in her late 60's and claims to have read all of your books, who needs advertising when you've got old ladies! Andrew Watson

Thanks Andrew. Please give my best to your co-worker!

Q

Mr Cornwell I came to your book signing in York on the 27th May and I would like to say thankyou for making it a worthwhile journey. I have greatly admired you and your work for a long time and to finally meet you was a fantastic experience. Thankyou for signing the three books I brought a long (The Grail Quest Chronicles), they're sitting on my shelf in pride of place now!! Thanks again. Iain (the half scot).

Thanks for making the trip Iain.

Q

Sir, would you mind terribly getting on with Mr. Starbuck and Company. Otherwise, your readers may find themselves waiting forever - as I am for the third volume of Willian Manchester's Churchill biography. We're not getting any younger, you know!

Q

I had just finished my second reading of the entire Patrick O'Brian Aubrey-Maturin series, was hungry for 1800 and found Hornblower too stilted. Stumbled across Sharpe's Fortress as it came out, and spent the next two years combing bookstores to get the series in order. Now, if you wrote it, I've read it. But the best part is that my 15-year-old son doesn't want to drink, doesn't want to drive, but does want to wrestle me for each installment of the Saxon stories as they come out. You've brought us together around fascinating subjects that I've loved since I studied English history. Thank you--and you're safe from my ever suggesting a story idea--yours are too good, too original, and too firmly syhched up with in what really happened. Rick Smead

Thank you Rick. Please give my best wishes to your son - he sounds like a very smart young man!

Q

I have read many of your books and owe you a debt of gratitude for the hours of enjoyment I have recived, this is merely a quick comment to let you know quite how fantastic an author you are. I really enjoyed reading Sharpe and the Starbuck chronicles but I found the Warlord books a bit slushy at points but still like them simply for the style of writing that I have come to love. The biggest thankyou must be for the Grail quest series - rarely have I read books that I could not put down but found that series truly compelling and literally didn't move all day. Well that's enough flattery for any man so thankyou and goodbye from your ever loyal fan. yogi bear Wiltshire England.

Q

Mr Cornwell, first let me say that your books have been a joy to read for me. But read is a faux pas because I listen to CD's, or Books on Tape. I spend many hours on the road and listening to the tales of Richard Sharp, or Stonehenge have made these hours more enjoyable. Your development of the characters along with the historical facts that are mixed in show your skill. Thank you. John O. Crouch

Q

Hi Bernard I have read nearly everyone of your books. They are so bloody good that now I find it hard to read anyone else, I keep looking for your style in every book I read. Can't wait for Uthred to get back what was his all along. Dont stop writing, cheers mate. Daniel Rissetto, New Zealand.

Q

Mr. Cornwell, I just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderfull books that you have written. After my father first gave me Waterloo less than six months ago, I have since read all The Starbuck Chronicles, The Saxon Stories, and am close to completing The Sharpe Books. I just wanted to say thanks for the great books and keep up the good work! Sean Paul Barker

Finished "Lords of the North" last night at about half three in the morning. Was absolutely awesome but you are solely to blame for the fact that I am now completely exhausted for the eight hours of work that started at nine this morning! Mike Gates
