Dear Mr Cornwell, I enjoy reading both fictional and non-fictional books on history and discovered your "Saxon Series" in my local library. I have enjoyed reading them very much. Unlike so many books today, the books are well written, well researched and very exciting. I shall enjoy reading the rest of your book list in the years to come. Frances Zarifis

Q

Dear Mr.Cornwell. I have just finished "Sword Song". Although I have enjoyed all of your books, I have always thought that the "Arthur" Series was your best work. I now feel that Derfel has a challenger and I look forward to reading more of "Serpent Breath". Thank you. Don McCall

Q

Bernard, I listen to a huge number of you Audio Books & have LOVED the Alfred series, the voice actor for the first 2 was superb, then I hit Lords of the North & a voice actor who is literally the worst I've heard in probably 100 books across a range of authors. He's terrible, actually ruins the book. Please use the previous actor for the remainder, someone who does shout, screech, is comprehensible, and who has some logic to his acting. All the Danes in LotN speak with a Scandi accent, except Ragnar who is apparently a Geordie... love your work & have always loved the voice acting, but this book was ruined.

So sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the recording. I'll be happy to pass your comments along to the publishers.

Q

I wanted to remind my USA friends that you needn't wait until USA release of Sword song...there is a famous book-selling Website whose name I won't advertise but has to do with a legend about very tall, muscled, fearless women-warriors and the site is also named for a famous rainforest. This Web site has a UK version and though I live in the states, I had the book 2 days after its UK release. You have to love international shipping! HAIL UHTRED and HAIL CORNWELL! Q

Dear Mr. Cornwell-- Just a note to thank you for so many great books--I have spent many fine hours reading Sharpe, and the Grail Quest books, and the Saxon Stories, and Gallow's Thief, and still more. (And, whenever I'm in Spain, England, or France (living in Toulouse this year) and have the chance, I take your books along--and some from your recommendation's list--and walk the towns and battle sites.) That's all--just wanted to say thanks! Best, Brady Harrison

Q

I have been one of your readers for probably the last 8-10 years. I was a trucker after retiring from the U.S. Army and read a lot. Something Ive never done is write an author. To you and yours I want to say thank you and Merry Christmas, happy New Year. I have had a lot of enjoyment and fast miles from your books and tapes. Keep writing and I will keep reading and listening. You are a fantastic Author. Richard W. (Dick) Patrick, Cascade, Idaho

Happy Christmas to you too!

Q

Dear Sir, I can't fully express how wonderful are the many hours I spend reading your works. I continually look forward to new releases from you with great anticipation. With only a couple of exceptions I have read all of your writings and will continue to do so. I even have a friend whom I got interested in the Sharpe series, which he loves. Thank you for this opportunity to write and pleas keep 'em coming.

Q

Hi i have just read 'Sharpe's Siege' and i thought it was excellent. I have seen all the Sharpe films so far that have come out and I cant wait for more to be made. However, reading your book has put a whole different light on Sharpes character because it expresses his thoughts and feelings were as the film can not. At this moment in time, I do not have an e-mail address (the one above is incorrect and can not be accessed) but I just wanted to let you know that Im a fan of Sharpe. Many regards Emmaline.

Q

I have enjoyed reading your Saxon stories, particularly I have taken great pleasure in working out the name places as given in the book without reference to your index. I was born and bred in the North East of England and Bamburgh Castle is a place I always visit when I return home. I am of good peasant stock and find it so interesting that even now generations upon generations later the old words can still be understood by someone who was born in a small village by the river wear, which just shows how little things change. Fascinating stuff. I do hope there will be more stories of Uhtred of Bebbanburg. Thank you for your wonderful books. Regards Janet Elgie

Dear Mr. Cornwell I would like to thank you for allowing me to be part of a whole new world. Like most boys growing up, I loved to play sports and hated to read. I did everything I could not to read as a child. As time went on, I found an excuse that worked pretty well. Someone told me I was dyslexic and had very little reading comprehension. I remember clearly the day I finished reading "The Red Pony". It took me longer than most and it was painful. That was sixth grade. I later graduated from a University with my engineering degree knowing that was the only book that I had ever read from cover to cover. It was about five years later that I read a small book about Lance Armstrong. Since then I have struggled with several books and not finishing one of them. My wife is an avid reader and loves all of your books. She told me about the Saxon Stories and thought that I might be interested. I am of Danish descent and if it wasnt for the pleading of my mother, I would be known as Thor Anderson. Needless to say, I picked up the Last Kingdom and could not put it down. I have just finished The Lords of the North and can not wait to start the Sword Song. Your writing has truly opened my eyes to a whole new world. I know that I will not like everything or finish everything that I read, but I know you have truly allowed me to enjoy reading (something that I have hated for most of my life). Due to the great height of accomplishment that it is for me to finish an entire book, I am now buying a signed 1st edition as a trophy. I have my first, in the process of buying the rest, and waiting for Sword Sang. Well, in a nutshell, thank you! Sincerely, Lance Anderson
