Dear Mr Cornwell, You probably get dozens of such letters a week so I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. I stand truly enraptured by the Arthur books. I've just finished Enemy of God and it was breathtaking. I can hardly wait to get my grubby paws on Excalibur. Not only do I stand impressed by the doubtlessly painstaking historical and literary research you've probably undertaken; but I also applaud your elegant storytelling. Not only I was thrilled at every swordfight and battle, but I was - to my surprise - really moved by Derfel's passion and Ceinwyn's rejection of Lancelot (I'm hardly a fan of love stories, but this one truly touched me). You seem to have managed to appeal to all my difficult tastes at once, and this is why I sound like a drooling "fanboy" ;) But really, it's just that I'm a daydreamer and a lover of History and myth, and all I wanted to say was: thank you for taking my imagination on this wild ride through Dark Ages Britain, and touching me with your masterful storytelling. Sincerely, Gustavo Iglesias, MD Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Dear Mr. Cornwell. With regard to the recent article in the Boston Globe please rest assured you are appreciated here in Haverhill, MA in Essex County. I would have recognized you were I to go to the Cape. My uncle Tom Haley was a builder in Chatham a long time ago. He used to have a little getaway cottage on Nauset before Kennedy made it a Nat'l Seashore Park. In any event I've always liked Historical Novels and used to read Thomas B Costain in the sixties. I m reading your Sharpe Novels in chronological order or at least trying to. They have sharpened an interest in the era and I am also reading about Nelson as well. I have to I'm an ex Navy man. I hope you are enjoying the cigar I'm jealous. I also enjoy a good cigar however have had to quit. I can't seem to smoke just one. Once I get that nicotine in me.... I hope that is a nice Dominican. Dan Moriarty

Hello Mr. Cornwell! I am taking this opportunity to thank you for all of the joy you have brought me. I believe I have read every book you have written and I literally count the weeks until the next Sharpe novel hits the market, or the next in the Archer series or anything else you choose to write. However, I have to admit the Sharpe series is my all time favorite. I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran and you have truly made my life much richer and more enjoyable. Thank you again. Sincerely, Roger E. Burens, Sr.

Dear Mr. Cornwell I have been a fan of yourr for many years. I have read all the Sharpe Novels but recently just discovered the Starbuck Chronicles. I am a civil war re-enactor and have been a civil war buff for years. As much as I like Sharpe, you just can't go off and leave Starbuck with no ending to this wonderful saga. It's time to give Mr. Sharpe a rest and turn your marvelous talents back to one of your most enduring characters, that being Starbuck. You really can't just leave him sitting after antetiam with no where to go. Really, it's time to get back to work. Respectfully, Court Fraley Capt.Comanding Cobbs Battery, Kentucky Light Artillery,

Just finished 'The Last Kingdom', great book. Colin Sabin

Just finished WATERLOO and have embarked on SHARPE'S DEVIL. I've really enjoyed the odessy with Sharpe and Harper but REVENGE and WATERLOO were fantastic tales wonderfully told. Probably the best account of Waterloo from the soldier's perspective that I've read. Also, thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions you gave of the wonderful banter between officers and soldiers. I'm now going to re-read SWORDS AROUND A THRONE and then on to the Arthur books and on and on. Thanks for all your hard work and please continue to carry on writing. Irving Soloway
